I'm about 8 weeks into my contract role at a Series C EdTech and it has been phenomonal. I've been very heads down trying to learn as much as I can and show up and collaborate, do the work in front of me and try to provide more insights about current friction points with our processes.

I had an interview today with another local government, and in the same fashion, was hired on the spot. Similarly, there were gaps in the team and they needed someone to come in and immediately support, and being a generalist was a huge win, as the comment was the small team is quite silo'd and no one bar the manager has the capability to do all the other roles if needed.

2 weeks to the date I was hired on the spot for a short term contact role. And the perm role comes with a promotion! All those months of the awful job applications, terrible HR and spidey senses for jobs that aren’t the right, finally feels like a change.Especially as my manager has stated multiple times how she appreciates my broad range of abilities and exp (having jumped around herself).Shows how important having a generalist understanding in senior management is key!

Today has been a big day. About 6 months ago I took on a fractional role as Head of Ops at a biotech start up, and an ops consulting role alongside. Well.. long story short, both roles grew exponentially until it became clear both needed someone full time. And they both wanted that to be me! After weeks of deliberations and open / honest conversations, I’ve accepted a COO full time offer! It’s a very exciting opportunity. A little bittersweet as I’m sad to be leaving a truly wonderful boss/team at the other job.
And I’m now looking for someone to replace me so hit me up for details if you’re interested..

I’ll be joining as the first BizOps hire at a Series A Sequoia-backed AI startup where I’ll really be able to flex all of my generalist skills — because they have so many processes yet to be established!

2 weeks ago on a tip from a friend I applied to a digital agency in Birmingham for a fairly junior account position and within 3 days had been screened, interviewed in person, and offered a role to join the agency leadership team as the Strategy Director! I started last Monday and had a whirlwind week culminating in a very nice message from the CEO expressing his excitement for the future of working together. I might die of relief! It's my literal perfect job.
